AskYOKO FAQ

For First-Time Users

1. What can I consult about on AskYOKO?

You can ask about topics related to self-medication, such as how to choose and use over-the-counter medicines, drug interactions, concerns about side effects, medicines for travel, and guidance on when to see a doctor.

2. Is AskYOKO the same as a medical consultation at a healthcare facility?

No. AskYOKO is a service where you can consult with a pharmacist. It does not provide medical examinations, diagnoses, treatments, or prescriptions by a physician.

3. Can I get a diagnosis or have medication prescribed?

We cannot provide diagnoses or issue prescriptions. Based on your consultation, a pharmacist will advise you on the use of over-the-counter medicines or when to visit a healthcare facility.

4. Can I use the service from overseas?

Yes. The service is available to those staying abroad. However, since the availability of medicines and healthcare systems vary by country and region, the scope of answers may be limited.

Consultation Hours & Responses

5. Can I submit a consultation 24 hours a day?

You can submit your consultation at any time. However, pharmacist responses are not provided in real time around the clock.

6. How long does it take to receive a response?

It depends on the content of your consultation and the time it is received. Responses may take longer during nighttime, early morning, holidays, or for inquiries that require additional verification.

7. If I consult from overseas, how does the time difference work?

In principle, our pharmacists operate on Japan Standard Time. If you are using the service from overseas, responses may arrive the following day or later due to the time difference.

8. Can I consult about emergency symptoms?

AskYOKO is not an emergency response service. If you experience symptoms such as loss of consciousness, difficulty breathing, severe chest pain, seizures, or heavy bleeding, do not wait for a response — contact emergency services or a medical facility in your area immediately.

9. Are there consultations that cannot be answered?

Yes. For inquiries that require diagnosis or treatment, lack sufficient information, or require specialized testing, we may refrain from answering and instead advise you to visit a healthcare facility.

Consultations About Family Members

10. Can I consult about a family member's medication or health condition?

Yes. You may consult about children, elderly family members, and other relatives.

11. What information is needed when consulting about a family member?

To provide a safe response, we may ask for information such as the person's age, sex, weight, symptoms, pre-existing conditions, allergies, and current medications.

12. Can I consult on behalf of someone else?

Yes. However, depending on the content of the consultation, we may ask for the person's consent or request additional information directly from them.

13. Can I ask about multiple family members in a single consultation?

One ticket is used per consultation topic. Consultations about different individuals or different symptoms/medications are, in principle, treated as separate topics and each requires a new ticket.

Tickets & Pricing

14. How many tickets are needed per consultation?

One ticket is used per consultation topic.

15. If the pharmacist asks follow-up questions, are additional tickets required?

No additional tickets are needed for follow-up exchanges required to answer the same consultation topic.

16. Can I ask about a different medicine or symptom mid-consultation?

If the topic shifts to a different medicine, symptom, or person, a new ticket will be required.

17. How many tickets are included in the monthly plan?

18. Do unused tickets from the monthly plan roll over to the next month?

22. May I be asked to do a video call?

Depending on the content of your consultation, we may ask for a video call to verify symptoms or how a medicine is being used.

23. May I be asked to share my current location or region?

24. How are images, video calls, and location information handled?

Images, video footage, location data, and health-related information provided for your consultation are treated as personal information and managed appropriately in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable laws.
